Eyesight4All is an initiative by a Saudi Arabian family to donate new, high quality reading and vision glasses to underprivileged children and adults around the world. Why glasses? Eyesight is a fundamental need that can be taken for granted by those with 20/20 vision as well as by affluent people with poor vision who can afford proper eyecare. For the estimated 2.5 billion people around the globe living in poverty who find their near or far sightedness diminishing, they are forced to simply suffer in silence, making whatever adaptations they can to get through the day without proper vision. A simple pair of the right glasses can make a world of difference for a person who can’t see adequately. Though the solution is small, the impact is big: With glasses, a person who couldn’t see at home, at work, or in the classroom can suddenly see everything they need to see to improve their work and their education. With the right pair of glasses, doors of opportunity that were closed to poor and disadvantaged people suddenly open. Eyesight4All was founded in 2016 by a Saudi family of six who wanted to work together to commit their time and resources to organize a project that would address an unmet need faced by many people: lack of access to glasses for people in underdeveloped nations and impoverished communities.
